sky and her mama.

so i have spent the majority of my day typing this blog post and being reminded of my lack of writing skills.  maybe i would share more if i was just better with getting my thoughts into words!?

back to sky and sarah.  sarah is a dear friend of mine from our younger years.  she has been unconditionally supportive since day one and has been interested in a session for quite some time now. finally the stars aligned for us and i was able to spend some time in florida with sarah and her favorite people for a couple days.

we spent a lot of time catching up, me realizing sky is one lucky lady (you should see her room(s) and wardrobe), and even was able to eat brunch on weekdays (!!!).

we started first at home, getting ready.  then we hopped in the car and went scouting for locations.  we stumbled among a little historic area that offered plenty of light, color and inspiration.  we slowly wandered around while these two got to spend a little time just as mom + daughter.  this is my ideal...if you like the thought of you and your little ones just being you in your own little places, i would love to make that happen for you.

also, i will soon be announcing a little something fun...if you are interested in hiring me this year, i think you might be interested!

yellow fall leaves.

when mom suggested we check out her in-laws land, i had no idea the space and color that we would have to create would be so magical!  when mom was worried about her kids cooperating, i had no idea how willing they would be to play with me for awhile and let loose!  and when it was all finished, i couldn't believe how it felt like i had known these guys forever.  when it all falls into place, this happens...

a sunday afternoon.

i first met maggie at a photography workshop we both attended in chicago last year.  she was going through some big changes in her life and my heart went out to her.  she was struggling with a recent move and how it impacted her businesses.  long story short, a year later she reached out to me regarding a family session.  she explained that they were all settled in their home, the kids were growing and doing great and things couldn't be better for her!  it was such great news.  getting the chance to be welcomed into their home, meet her boys and witness their happiness first hand was awesome!

beach balls.

part of my florida travels included the historic and quaint city of st. augustine.  having never been, i had no idea the familiarity i would feel while there and with this little family.  i was educated on the area, the sea turtles and the best bbq places in town!

my dream clients are these families.  they show up.  they do there thing and they let me do mine.  they trust without expectation and they bring you into their world like you're old friends.  if i wasn't trying to catch a flight home i could have accepted their invite to lunch and hung out with them the rest of the day!

florida fronds

in the middle of summer i had an inquiry for a session in florida.  the email was so sweet and kind and i felt that giddy girl feeling that you feel when someone whole heartedly compliments you.  i was smitten.  but of course, i thought it was all just a little ego boost and the idea of it all actually coming together seemed unlikely.  so i graciously thanked this potential client and explained i would absolutely love to fly out and somewhat left the ball in her corner.  little did i know, she was completely serious and willing to do anything to have me document her family.  who would have thought posting some images on instagram would land me one of the highlights of my 2015 career!?  but enough of me talking myself up over here...

if all my clients would take me to a massive amount of greenery and basically let me do whatever the heck i want, i would be thrilled.  and that is just what happened here.  the family connected and were relaxed and well, the location...my goodness!
